Michael R. Fletcher is a freelance writer, blogger and editor living in Richmond, Virginia. By day he works for the Commonwealth of Virginia, but the writing and blogging are his passion.
Why “Renaissance Dad?” Because Michael is interested in many things, from writing to art to music to faith. And, on occasion, he’s a bit obsessed with conservative politics.
Current projects include this blog, Richmond Va Business Blog, Eating in Richmond and Very Best Sites. Michael is also the Richmond Bible Examiner at Examiner.com.
Michael is the former Editor-in-Chief for Bearing Drift Magazine. Politically conservative with a libertarian twist Michael writes about his passions of politics, faith, art and entertainment. Thrown in for good measure are posts about family and life in general.
Earlier this year, Michael completed a year long blog project at 365 Things I Believe.
Because two jobs don’t keep him busy enough, Michael is also actively involved in the Music and Fine Arts Ministry at West End Assembly of God where annually he can be seen (some years better than others) as part of the ensemble cast for Glorious Christmas Nights.
Michael is a graduate of Asbury University, where his son is now majoring in Media Communications and where Michael served as Alumni Association President. Michael also studied at Asbury Theological Seminary and is pursuing counseling certification with the Christian Counseling and Training Center located in Richmond.
In July, 2010, Michael was appointed by Governor Bob McDonnell to serve a four-year term on the Virginia Board of Counseling.
Michael lives in Chesterfield with his wife of 24 years, his two sons (one in college as noted above), and an aging Black Labrador.
