It’s the first Saturday of the new year and the last Saturday of vacation. Not planning to wander far from the homestead today. Sitting at my desk where I can look out on the back yard and think about gardening projects for the spring. I’ve got tulips and daffodils that, thanks to Thanksgiving rain and Christmas snow, didn’t make it into the ground that will go into pots today.

Maybe a movie, maybe a board game. Maybe some focused time sorting out partially completed writing projects.

The 90 Day Challenge: Day 2, Genesis 13-28

This has been brewing for a while.  This will be my last post on The Write Side of My Brain for the foreseeable future.

On Tuesday, Virginia made electoral history.  It was a great day of restoration for the Commonwealth that I love.  A turning from the failed policies of the last eight years in Richmond and the last ten months in Washington (not to mention the last two years of the Nancy and Harry show). 

Yes, yes, I know the conventional wisdom is that Tuesday’s vote was in no way a reflection on the President or his radical leftist agenda.  However, as Rush pointed out, Democrats only won in the races where Obama didn’t campaign.  But I digress.

I started this blog almost two years ago.  It was the second or third (maybe even fourth) of such efforts.  This time blogging under my real name and not a pen name.  I wasn’t sure where it would lead, but ultimately it evolved back into being mostly a political blog.  That was not my intent.  Still I was glad to play a small part in Tuesday’s victory.

But I come to a point where life seems too busy, and it’s all my own fault for being overcommitted.  I just finished up a seasonal weekend job on Sunday, and I finish one of two classes I’m taking on Monday.  But it’s Nanowrimo time and rehearsals are well underway for our church Christmas production. 

All that being said, I just don’t like the fact that the blog has become mostly the reposting of other’s ideas.  Not that I don’t agree with what I post, because I certainly do.  But there’s very little of my own original writing there.

So, without belaboring the point, I’m taking a break.  Whether or not it’s a permanent break remains to be seen.  I think it is, but that could change.  At a minimum I’m gone ’til mid December when Nanowrimo and the production are over. 

This will give me some time to think and to regroup.  I’ll still be active on Facebook and other sites I frequent.  Just not here.
