But a news blackout won’t stop the tea parties. They are just getting started. The April 15 event is only round two of 10 planned rounds of butt-kicking activism. Round three, fittingly, is on July 4. On tax day, we get to remind Washington that we pay the bills for all of their pork-barrel spending. On Independence Day, we get to remind them that we can vote them out just as easily as they were voted in.

I bring this all up because commenters at my Houston Chronicle blog–basically a bunch of liberal trolls with nothing better to do than spew stupid–are kvetching about the upcoming Tea Party Protests. People (of all political stripes, by the way) peacefully protesting are called racist, radical, hate-filled, etc. You know the drill.

You didn’t protest like this against Bush’s billions in wasteful spending. I guess it seems different now (even though it obviously isn’t).
Actually I did. I only started this blog in January of 2008, but I was railing against the President and Congress in multiple other venues. And I took a stand against the first bailout.
But, as I’ve told others, the solution to Bush and the Republican majority overspending is not to increase it exponentially. But more to the point, Obama has proposed to spend more than the previous 42 Presidents…combined.
I went to my local rally yesterday – over 5,000 in attendance! very encouraging.
I’m excited to see what comes of this effort of like-minded people coming together.
