Ben Shapiro: Where, then, are the liberal women when it comes to Alaska Governor Sarah Palin?

The Hypocritical, Woman-Hating Left Targets Palin
Ben Shapiro at TownHall

There is no question that the left’s attachment to both the Trig Palin non-story and the Bristol Palin story are dramatic examples of sexism. Attacking a female politician’s pregnancy without any evidence — accusing her of lying about her own baby — is simply sickening. Exposing a female politician’s 17-year-old pregnant daughter and then implying that the politician is an unfit mother and should have stayed at home to tend to the children is simply discriminatory. Liberal women should feel free to oppose Palin’s candidacy on policy grounds — but they have the moral obligation to defend Palin from such sexist attacks.

No, it is not sexists or discriminatory to “attack” Sarah Palin in this case. She had four children, and she had the duty to see that they were properly reared. By nature, women are best fitted for this role, particularly when it comes to raising daughters. Bristol was seeking attention and guidance, and not finding it at home (her mother was off running for political office), she tried to find it on her own, and we see the result. It is germane to any campaign that purports to lecture the rest of us on “family values” and moral conduct. John McCain, who goofed off at the Academy, and who committed adultery and divorced his disabled wife so he could marry a younger, rich heiress, likewise lacks the moral character to be President of the United States.

Odd that you’d stop by to comment on a six-month old post John, but still…I don’t recall either John McCain or Sarah Palin “lecturing” anyone on family values. I do recall Barack Obama saying that children were off limits with regard to the campaign. I think he and his wife, if not his supporters, certainly stood by that.

Values don’t change. Values are permanent. That we sometimes fail in living up to them is a human trait. That doesn’t make them wrong.
