Who wrote this garbage?

Oh wait…I did.
Today I started the editing process for my Nanowrimo 2009 Project. I finished just before Thanksgiving with 50,505 words.
Now comes the uneviable task of reading it to see it it’s even worth editing. So far, Chapter One is not all that bad. Still I know there are inconsistencies and implausible situations that must be corrected. And what seemed like a great idea at the time might best be told in two separate stories. Hmmmm…I may be on to something.
Stay tuned.
The Write Side is settling down for a long winter’s nap.
This has been brewing for a while. This will be my last post on The Write Side of My Brain for the foreseeable future.
On Tuesday, Virginia made electoral history. It was a great day of restoration for the Commonwealth that I love. A turning from the failed policies of the last eight years in Richmond and the last ten months in Washington (not to mention the last two years of the Nancy and Harry show).
Yes, yes, I know the conventional wisdom is that Tuesday’s vote was in no way a reflection on the President or his radical leftist agenda. However, as Rush pointed out, Democrats only won in the races where Obama didn’t campaign. But I digress.
I started this blog almost two years ago. It was the second or third (maybe even fourth) of such efforts. This time blogging under my real name and not a pen name. I wasn’t sure where it would lead, but ultimately it evolved back into being mostly a political blog. That was not my intent. Still I was glad to play a small part in Tuesday’s victory.
But I come to a point where life seems too busy, and it’s all my own fault for being overcommitted. I just finished up a seasonal weekend job on Sunday, and I finish one of two classes I’m taking on Monday. But it’s Nanowrimo time and rehearsals are well underway for our church Christmas production.
All that being said, I just don’t like the fact that the blog has become mostly the reposting of other’s ideas. Not that I don’t agree with what I post, because I certainly do. But there’s very little of my own original writing there.
So, without belaboring the point, I’m taking a break. Whether or not it’s a permanent break remains to be seen. I think it is, but that could change. At a minimum I’m gone ’til mid December when Nanowrimo and the production are over.
This will give me some time to think and to regroup. I’ll still be active on Facebook and other sites I frequent. Just not here.
” I have things to do. I’ve put this off for far too long. I regret to announce this is the end ! I’m going now. I bid you all a very fond farewell ! Goodbye.”

Something Nano this way comes…
Nanowrimo 2009 is coming.
I’m ready. I’ve got a plot. I’ve got an outline. Research? Well, not so much, but enough to write a good story and let the editing process sort out the details.
November 1, 2009 is just around the corner.
Nanowrimo 2008: Throwing in the Towel
I just can’t do it.
I’m stuck at 7349 words, and I really don’t care that much about what happens to my characters. I’m not going to reach 50,000 words by the end of this month.
So it’s going on the shelf.
Perhaps it was too ambitious anyway. Coming off of the election, gearing up for the church Christmas production, trying to rearrange some rooms in the house and a bit of not-the-best-but-we’ll-get-through-it health news this week, I had to check the priorities.
I had a pretty good story going, or so I thought. Then about Chapter 4 I needed action and it took a turn. An interesting turn, but not one I’m prepared to finish writing about. Pre November 1, my wife had suggested an alternate story line. But it was based on an election scenario and I simply had no desire to spend the rest of the month on another campaign.
The best part about Nanowrimo is that it forces you to write. In a “normal” month, I’d be progressing.
Oh well. There’s always next year.
