Advent 2020: Anticipation

We are on day 268 of 15 days to slow the spread.

Christmas is one week from today.

One. Week.

Seven days.

Most men will be thinking about starting shopping this weekend. I’ve actually been working on it for weeks.  God bless Amazon.

But it’s a different year.

I actually had a family last night ask if Santa could come early because they’ll be with different family at Christmas.

2020 continues to challenge.

I keep thinking I’m done with Christmas shopping and then something else comes up.

I’m like Steve Martin in The Jerk…and this…I need this…

But with any luck by this time tomorrow I will be completely done.

Well, except that we’re going to the amusement park tomorrow and I plan to buy snacks and trinkets.

Merry Christmas to me.

It’s the Friday before Christmas.

Plans are being made, changed, and made again.

Our gathering at home will be quite small. Just us.

The Monday after Christmas I have my next stop on the cancer recovery train.

Then the New Year will be upon us.

I’m not one of those who think that January 1st automatically resets everything and that all of our troubles will be left behind.

But I won’t be sorry to kick 2020 out the door on its sorry ass.

And, I can promise you I won’t be reading any year end reviews. Let’s leave this chapter out of the history books.

Then again, not understanding history helped fuel the dumpster fires of 2020.

Let’s just say that I think people should stop getting their history from Wikipedia and go to a more legitimate source…like The Babylon Bee.

I digress and I really need to get on with the weekend.

I’m almost done with work, then I can get to work.

It’s the most busiest time of the year.

But there’s a baby coming.

In the midst of all the hustle and bustle and making and breaking of plans let’s stop to remember why he came.

I won’t be blogging here next week. I’ll return sometime before the new year.

Peace and Merry Christmas to you.
