Today is National Cancer Survivors Day®.

From the NCSD website: National Cancer Survivors Day is an annual, treasured Celebration of Life that is held in hundreds of communities nationwide and around the world. It is a CELEBRATION for those who have survived, an INSPIRATION for those recently diagnosed, a gathering of SUPPORT for families, and an OUTREACH to the community. Participants unite in a symbolic event to show the world that life after a cancer diagnosis can be meaningful, productive, and even inspiring.

ncsd2014NCSD began in the United States in 1987. It is now celebrated worldwide in countries including Canada, Australia, India, South Africa, Greece, Great Britain, Spain, and Nigeria.

I am very, very fortunate. I’ve told my story before. I’ve walked to raise money for cancer research and treatment.

Cancer sucks. I’m one of the lucky ones. So today is a day to celebrate.

But, I’ve lost far too many family members and friends to cancer. That’s why I take every chance I get to raise awareness.

Do a self exam (that’s men and women). Get a check up.
