Henry VIII was born on this day in 1491. He died on January 28, 1547. Henry VII is known for his six marriages as well as for this role in the separation of the Church of England from the Catholic Church. He was the father of Elizabeth I, born to Anne Boleyn. Elizabeth became queen after the execution of her half-sister who had imprisoned her on suspicion of supporting Protestant rebels.
