People we love: Peggy Noonan

Margaret Ellen “Peggy” Noonan, Born September 7, 1950

Born on this day in 1950.

Author, columnist and former Reagan speech writer, Peggy Noonan has written seven books, writes a regular column and regular appears on news shows such as ABC’s This Week and NBC’s Meet the Press.

Noonan penned the words that Reagan gave both on the 40th anniversary of D-day and in his address to the nation following the Challenger explosion.

Noonan’s work for Reagans successor, George H.W. Bush were not quite as successful giving us such phrases as “kinder, gentler nation” and what ultimately led to his downfall “Read my lips: no new taxes.”

Don’t fall in love with politicians, they’re all a disappointment. They can’t help it, they just are.
