Fitness Day 14: There are no magic pills

At least today I got the day right. Yesterday was not Day 12.

There was regression over the weekend. There’s no denying that. I think I was a little more unsettled by the prospect of not going to the gym. It’s been more challenging to reestablish a routine.

Still, the Wii Fit in the mornings seems to be working out so far. And, yesterday temperatures were such that I got almost three miles of walking at lunch. I look forward to next week when the neighborhood pool will be open in the evenings. My arthritis is missing the water.

I heard about yet another “new” supplement yesterday called V3. Supposedly it’s an amazing appetite suppressant and is doing miraculous things.

So, I did what I always do and emailed my former personal trainer who has remained a friend and advisor, he said: There is no magic bullet. With every supplement, there is an “eating” program and, on occasions, an “exercise” program to accompany the supplement. The supplements are little more than placebos. That’s why you never heard me pushing them. They are usually very pricey and, with the small amount of active ingredients in them, do little (if anything) to help with weight loss.

No magic bullet. No miracle drug.

Darn it.
